Is Bybit No-KYC? 2026 Verification Requirements (and How to Pass)

Short answer: not anymore. Bybit built its early reputation on letting people trade with little or no identity verification — but that's changed. As of 2026, KYC is mandatory to trade or deposit on Bybit. This guide explains exactly what's required now, and how to get verified without the usual headaches.

Where this fits: this is a companion to our full Sign-Up & KYC walkthrough. Start there for the complete registration flow, and use this page to understand verification in depth.

So, Can You Use Bybit Without KYC?

Only barely. Without verification, an account is effectively withdrawal-only and heavily limited — you can't trade, and you can't deposit fiat. To unlock spot, derivatives, Earn products, and fiat on-ramps, you need to complete at least Level 1 (Standard) verification.

In other words: if your goal is to actually trade on Bybit, KYC isn't optional. The good news is that Standard verification is usually quick — often just a few minutes.

Why the change? Like most major exchanges, Bybit has moved toward mandatory verification to comply with global anti-money-laundering rules and to strengthen account security. Verification is free.

Documents You'll Need

Proof of Identity (POI) — one of:

  • Passport
  • National ID card
  • Residence permit
  • Driver's license

Note: E-copies aren't accepted, and a liveness/selfie check is always required.

Proof of Address (POA) — only for Advanced and above:

  • A utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months.
  • Mobile phone bills are not accepted.

Step-by-Step: Getting Verified

1

Open verification. Go to Settings → Verify Account (KYC).

2

Choose Individual verification and select your country of residence.

3

Enter your details exactly as they appear on your ID.

4

Upload your government ID — clear, unedited, with all corners visible and text readable.

5

Complete the facial check. Find even lighting, remove glasses/hats/masks, and follow the on-screen prompts.

6

Submit and wait. Standard verification often completes in minutes; during busy periods it can take up to about one business day.

Why Bybit KYC Fails — and How to Fix It

Most rejections come down to a handful of fixable issues.

ProblemFix
Blurry or edited imageRetake in good light, lay the ID flat, fill the frame, and submit an unedited photo (no filters or crops).
Name mismatchMake sure the name you enter matches your ID exactly. If you're linking a bank account, the bank name must match your ID name too.
Address not acceptedUse a clear utility bill or bank statement showing your name and address, dated within 3 months.
Liveness check failsEven lighting, steady camera, nothing covering your face; try the app if the web check keeps failing.
Stuck "processing"Standard reviews are usually fast — if it's been well beyond a day, contact Bybit support rather than resubmitting repeatedly.
Pro Tip: Many traders find the mobile app handles document scanning and the liveness check more smoothly than desktop.

Two Things Worth Knowing

One verified account per person.

Bybit allows only one KYC-verified account per individual. Keep that in mind before creating anything new.

Already have an account but no fee discount?

Because of the one-account rule, Bybit offers a legitimate KYC Transfer process that lets you move your verification to a new account — which is how existing users apply a partner fee discount they missed at sign-up. See the details on our Sign-Up & KYC guide and the Fees guide.

A Note on Regions and VPNs

Bybit isn't available everywhere. Service is restricted in several jurisdictions (including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore), and European users are routed to Bybit.eu. Using a VPN to get around regional restrictions violates Bybit's terms and can lead to a frozen account, so always check your local regulations first.
